Need someone who has a way with words?
You found her.

My name is Brenda Murray and I help aspiring authors get their books into print, either by ghostwriting for them or coaching them through the writing and publication process.

I started doing this in the second grade. That’s when my teacher sent my book assignment to a publisher in Boston. My Mother the Yeller (an expose of life in the Murray household where an angelic daughter was blamed for her brothers’ misdeeds) set my course for a career in writing and coaching writers.

Since then I’ve earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Writing, taught writing at Chicago State University and Columbia College Chicago, authored numerous manuals, grants, articles, and technical publications, and most recently served as a ghostwriter, editor, and publishing consultant for books. Over the years I have coached entrepreneurs, executives, students, and storytellers. I have assisted entrepreneurs in sharing their expertise which has raised their credibility and attracted more business, helped students craft compelling personal statements that gained them entry to the schools of their dreams, and provided deadlines, motivation, and re-writing services for memoir authors who inspire others by setting scenes that convey important life lessons.

If you are considering working with a ghostwriter or writing coach, I believe that revealing personal characteristics and passions are just as important as professional experience. A little bit about me: I love to tell a good story. I am a kind, honest editor and good listener. I cannot hide my excitement for what I do and I work very hard at my craft. A career detour designing software and managing teams turned out to reveal my gift for tenacious problem solving, project management, and performance coaching. When you run into a roadblock or lose motivation, I know how to figure out the next step and provide exercises to get you unstuck. I hold others and myself accountable for finishing what we start.

Whether you are communicating about your business or a life story, writing is a personal matter. It’s a messy process full of missteps and wrong turns. Sometimes you need someone at your side as you go on the journey, or maybe you want to sit back while someone else writes and you consult. In both cases, that’s me.

I am passionate about a wide range of subjects and learn new domains quickly, but have professional, writing, and editorial consulting experience in the following areas:
